From mothers looking for someone to take their children to bodies disfigured from being buried under many pounds of rubble, signs of the tragedy were everywhere.

When the UWG employees embarked on their journey, they were prepared to provide medical assistance and service to hundreds of children and adults. Soul Work

Soul MattersI grew up on this campus. I spent many hours of my childhood running around campus, getting into mischief and learning about myself. Twenty six years to the day from leaving Carrollton, I returned to work here as a counselor and then Director of Counseling. I could not have told you when I left that I would return to Carrollton, and be happy to do so. Life has a funny way of working out in a full circle kind of way.

Turns out, one can come home again, but not as one was before. Time, travels, several college degrees, and motherhood changed the girl who left Carrollton into the woman who returned. This shaping and molding lead me to choose a career where I can help people change and grow, and to also work in higher education, as my father before me. Read more ...

Going West

Going WestAs a third generation UWG alum myself, the message of Going West is one that comes naturally to me given my experience here as a student. As a transfer student to UWG, I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to find a great fit at UWG after attending a large institution. Once I was here, I was able to thrive and grow through my program as a German major.

I am someone who found their “place.” I was encouraged to try new opportunities outside of the classroom to enrich my collegiate career. I presented undergraduate research for the campus-wide Big Night competition; I participated in Kaffeestunde & Total Immersion Weekends at Tanner State Park with my German cohort; and I experienced university life and the World Cup in another country through my study abroad experience in Germany.
