US News & World Report announced new rankings in September, with the University of West Georgia moving up on the list. UWG is ranked 45 in the Public South Regional University category, up one spot from 46 last year, and 89 in the overall South Regional University category, up from last year’s ranking of 91. UWG’s overall score also increased by two points.
"It is validating to know that as UWG experiences record growth, it also continues to garner recognition from US World and News Report,” says Dr. Kyle Marrero, president of UWG. “We are now on the map and being recognized for our achievements."
Additionally, UWG’s individual scores increased as well. The student selectivity ranking increased by five points, and the peer assessment rating went from a 2.7 to a 2.9. The Richards College of Business ranking increased significantly as well, and UWG was once again included on the “Best Online Bachelor Programs” list with an especially impressive faculty credentials and training ranking of fourth overall.
“The increase in rankings is a direct reflection on our continuing progress on many fronts that affect student success and progress,” says Dr. Scot Lingrell, vice president for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management. “It is the result of the great work of our faculty and staff, and their commitment to help students attain at the highest levels possible.”
Earlier this year, the College of Education saw an increase in graduate ratings in the US News & World Report “Best Education Schools” list. In February, UWG was ranked sixth in the nation for US News & World Report’s “Best Online Graduate Computer Information Technology Programs” with the highest overall ranking for both faculty credentials and training and student services and technology.
