by Taylor Bryant

Toys Abound at UWG for Less Fortunate Children The University of West Georgia Staff Advisory Council held its 2013 Annual Toy Drive on Friday, December 13, at the Townsend Center’s Dangle Theatre. The drive, benefiting children throughout Carroll County, invited faculty, staff, students and community members to donate an unwrapped gift for a child under the age of 12.

“UWG is a stakeholder in the community,” says Ashley Lewis, vice chair for UWG’s Staff Advisory Council and associate director for the Center for Diversity and Inclusion. “It is very important that we do our part to give back and build connections. UWG has some amazing faculty, staff and administrators who are always happy to help whenever needed.”

More than 260 toys were collected at the drive. The council also adopted 15 children between the ages of 13 and 15 from the Department of Family and Children Services. Individuals and office departments participated by selecting one child and purchasing the items on their wish list.
