Until now, all aspects of new University of West Georgia head football coach Will Hall's job have been largely related to being in an office. That changes early next Thursday morning, March 6, when Hall and the Wolves hit the practice field at the UWG Athletic Complex to begin spring practice.

Exciting is almost not a good enough word to describe what I have been able to witness with the UWG softball squad so far this year.
For starters, your Wolves are 11-5 so far this season and are playing as well as I have seen them play in nearly 10 years. Of those 11 wins, two came in the opening weekend of Gulf South Conference softball against Alabama Huntsville, a team that had beaten UWG 24 straight times before these games. If you haven’t kept up with GSC softball, Huntsville has been a regular both as a conference champion and at the Division II softball College World Series. Read more ...

I can’t tell you how excited I get when any West Georgia athletic team wins a game, big or small. As a graduate of this institution, to see the Red and Blue succeed on the field or court makes my heart sing each and every time. But as excited as I get when my Wolves win, the news we received in the past month or so about our athletes and their success in the classroom makes the pride that I have for our teams grow by leaps and bounds.
First, the Athletic Department began a new tradition by honoring those athletes who completed their eligibility on the field and in the classroom with the introduction of stoles at graduation. Ten UWG graduates who happen to also be athletes were awarded a white stole to wear at the December graduation. Read more ...

There are very few students on the campus of any college or university who have a public microscope on them as much as that of a student-athlete.
These are students who wake up a 6 a.m. for morning workouts, go to class, eat lunch, go to practice, have team film sessions and then team study halls. All through that, these athletes must perform at a high level every time they step on the field or court as well as performing well every time they step into a classroom. Read more ...
