Piedmont Newnan Hospital Extends Fitness Benefits to UWG Newnan

by Rebecca Hightower

The University of West Georgia and Piedmont Newnan Hospital are excited to announce that they have signed an agreement to extend membership to the Piedmont Newnan Fitness Center for the students, faculty, and staff of UWG Newnan free of charge.

Piedmont Newnan Hospital Extends Fitness Benefits to UWG Newnan “This partnership with the downtown fitness center continues the wonderful relationship that has developed with Piedmont during the renovation of UWG Newnan,” said Dr. Scot Lingrell, vice president for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management at UWG. “It provides a vibrancy to campus life that could not be created without connection to such a facility.”

This agreement highlights the emphasis UWG and Piedmont Newnan share on improving the health status of communities through the development of both the mind and the body. All students who take at least one course onsite at UWG Newnan, as well as all UWG Newnan staff and faculty are immediately eligible to participate in the host of exercise and wellness programs available at the fitness center.

Located less than one mile from the newly renovated UWG Newnan, the Piedmont Newnan Fitness Center offers cardiovascular equipment, strength training, and personal trainers, as well as a large variety of group exercise classes for all levels of fitness.

“We are excited for this partnership with UWG Newnan as it allows us to share our fitness passion and love for downtown Newnan by providing a fitness center within walking distance of the campus,” said Colleen Alrutz, manager of health and wellness at Piedmont Newnan Hospital. “We look forward to seeing the students, faculty and staff at our center and participating in classes.”
