Letters to the Editor Policy
Perspective Online encourages readers to submit letters to the editor at perspect@westga.edu.
Submissions must include:
- Writer’s full name
- Address
- Telephone number
- Email address
- The year and degree earned at UWG (if applicable)
Content:
The Letters to the Editor section promotes an open dialog within the community. To be considered for publication, each letter must meet one of the following criteria:
- Relate to a story published in Perspective Online
- Within the past two months
- Relate to a story published in the print Perspective
- Within the previous or current issue
- Relate to current and recent events and issues at UWG
- Contain information of interest to UWG alumni and friends
A letter will not be published if it:
- Is unsigned or unverified
- Endorses a product or person
- Is libelous, derogatory of, or hostile towards an individual, an organization, or the university
Format and Style:
- Letters should be short (less than 250 words)
- All letters may be edited for length, clarity, grammatical accuracy, and stylistic consistency.
Editor’s Notes:
- Editor’s notes will be used to correct misconceptions contained in letters and to provide clarification.
* The Perspective Online editorial staff reserves the right to choose which letters are most appropriate for publication.
