The University of West Georgia recently honored the generosity of its highest level donors and welcomed them into the 1906 Society at a ceremony held in the Campus Center Ballroom.
UWG President Dr. Kyle Marrero recognized 50 members who attended the ceremony and presented them with bronze medallions.
"The 1906 Medallion recipients represent donors who have made multi-year, ongoing commitments to support UWG and its students and programs,” he said. “They have built a foundation of giving that helped this institution to succeed and provide the shoulders on which we now stand as we forge the New West."
The 1906 Society commemorates the founding year for West Georgia College, while recognizing alumni and friends who sustain and advance the university with a lifetime of giving. Membership into the 1906 Society has been extended to some 340 alumni and friends who have cumulative giving of $25,000 or more.
“Sometimes a simple thank you just doesn’t seem to be enough,” said Denice King, coordinator of donor relations. “We want to formally recognize our donors. We know that UWG is the best place to work, learn, and succeed because of their generosity and commitment.”
