The dynasty continued in Orlando on Saturday, January 16 as the University of West Georgia coed cheerleading squad won the program's 19th overall title, taking home the hardware at UCA Nationals in the Division II Coed competition. Earlier in the day, the all-girl squad took home second place honors in the Division I Small College competition.
The title was the 12th in the history of the UWG coed program at UCA Nationals, dating back to the 2001 season, when the program began an impressive string of victories at the annual event in Orlando. The top two teams in this year's competition had already met once, back in December, as the Wolves won this year's competition over second place Northwest Missouri State.
In the all-girl competition, the Wolves put together a strong performance against tough competition, but when the awards were handed out, Morehead State edged West Georgia in the points. The Wolves finished ahead of third place Northern Kentucky.
Both squads will finish out the four remaining basketball games and will continue community service work on behalf of the university for the remainder of the year. Head coach Nicole Nichols will announce the next cheer clinic and tryouts in the coming months in preparation for the 2016-17 athletic year and the 2017 UCA Nationals.
