The University of West Georgia has introduced a new study abroad program called Wolves Abroad Grant or WAG for short. Grants range from $1,500-5,000, depending on the length of the program the student is participating in.
"The Wolves Abroad Grant program is a new initiative designed to help talented students who have never had the opportunity to travel outside the country before take advantage of the chance to gain global perspective through study abroad,” said Dr. Maria Doyle, Director of International Services and Programs.
WAG complements the preexisting study abroad program, and supports the university’s strategic imperative to “facilitate students’ responsible financial access” to UWG programs.
In order to be considered for eligibility students must have at least a 2.75 and must be completely enrolled and degree seeking students. Students are also required to write a 500-700 word essay regarding certain topics.
“Out of a strong pool of applicants, we've selected six academically talented and highly motivated students, and I'm thrilled that we can provide them with this support as they venture out to learn more about being citizens of the world," Dr. Doyle said.

Dr. Doyle was also assisted by various members of UWG’s staff including Dr. John Upson, Dr. John Ponder, Dr. Gavin Lee, Dr. Robert Kilpatrick, Dr. Rita Mahmoud, and Dr. S. Swamy-Mruthinti.
