Earlier this year the Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education completed a survey analysis of its stakeholders and the findings were recently presented to the board of GPEE by board member and University of West Georgia President Emeritus and Regents Professor of Business Dr. Beheruz N. Sethna.
The Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education was founded in 1992 as a nonpartisan, nonprofit partnership of business, education, community, and government leaders with a shared vision of improved education in Georgia. In a recent press release, GPEE shared that in an effort to continue their commitment to continuous improvement the organization conducts a stakeholders' survey every two to three years to determine what is being done right, what can be done better, and help plot a course for the future. In September, Dr. Sethna, who serves on the board of GPEE, volunteered to analyze the recent survey results and present the findings to the board and its members.
“I compliment the Georgia Partnership for doing such a survey,” explained Dr. Sethna. “Not every organization takes a close look at itself and asks their constituencies to respond. The fact that the Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education has done this in 2010, 2013, and again in 2015 is in itself a marvelous finding, even without looking at any data.”
The GPEE has been recognized with multiple awards for its long standing commitment to public education in Georgia, including being named the “Flashlight Award” winner from the Washington, D.C. based Data Quality Campaign in the advocacy organization of the year category. The award was earned for GPEE’s “outstanding work in promoting and protecting effective data use in the service of students.”
In a video hosted on the GPEE website, Dr. Sethna explains some of the results of the survey, including a large growth in respondents feeling that GPEE is successful in implementing its mission, increasing from 84 percent to 92 percent. Dr. Sethna shared the organizations mission as “To inform and influence Georgia leaders through research and non-partisan advocacy to impact education policies and practices for the improvement of student achievement.”
“All of these results are saying that not only is Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education doing a great job, but each time we do the survey it gets better,” said Dr. Sethna. “That’s a compliment to the leadership and staff of the Georgia Partnership.”
