Summertime in Carrollton, Georgia is all about the outdoors, from hitting the lake to jogging the greenbelt to enjoying a host of live music concerts. The Amphitheatre, or the Amp, located in Adamson Square, offers a summer concert series boasting a variety of local artists from many different musical genres.
Phoebe Ericson, the director of Carrollton Main Street, organizes these events for the community.
“Carrollton Main Street is part of the national historic preservation trust, and one of its four focuses is to promote downtown, to keep it vital, to keep it historical, to protect our buildings, ” she said. “So though the Amp is not directly one of Carrollton Main Street’s programs, it is a great way to promote downtown.”
One of the best features of the Amp’s summer lineup? All of the concerts and summer movies are free of charge.
“Everything is free because the city wanted something free for all of us. It is funded by sponsors, and I have nine big sponsors this year,” Phoebe said. “What I would really like to see is something in the Amp every weekend that the weather allows so that you might not know what it is, but you want to come down because you know there will be something going on in downtown Carrollton.”
