Center for Diversity and Inclusion celebrated Women’s History Month with an event featuring Dr. Felicia Mabuza-Suttle. The event was held in the campus center ballroom on March 27.
Dr. Mabuza-Suttle’s extensive resume includes everything from talk show host and best-selling author to president and co-owner of Leadership Success International, LLC. She invited the event attendees to join her in celebrating women of character, courage and commitment. Dr. Mabuza-Suttle shared stories of her childhood while living in South Africa, and how throughout her personal and professional career, she stayed motivated by remembering these stories and continued to push herself to achieve every dream and goal she set while she was young.
“I truly believe that it is not where you are from that matters, but where you are going,” she says. “I am a big dreamer. I used to say that I would accomplish anything I wanted, and when my friends told me to ‘Wake up, stop dreaming,’ I would tell them, ‘No, because my dreams are going to become a reality.’ And that is what I did. I told myself I would do something, and I would find any way possible to make that happen. There is no excuse for it not to.”
Dr. Mabuza-Suttle continues to motivate others to dream, and to most importantly fulfill her dream. She hopes that by speaking to the students and faculty of UWG, that they will stay remain motivated to make their dreams come true.
The Women’s History Month program was co-sponsored by the Center for Diversity and Inclusion at UWG, and also by the Women’s Studies Program at UWG. For more about CDI, please visit www.westga.edu/diversity. For more about the UWG Women’s Studies Program, please visit www.westga.edu/women/.
