Going West was the Right Fit

by Andrew Caldwell

I started college in the fall of 2000 at the University of West Georgia. I grew up in Newnan, Georgia and frequented the UWG campus from time to time throughout the years. I knew from a young age that my passion was in business and the University of West Georgia enhanced that passion.

Andrew CaldwellThe education I received at the University of West Georgia has allowed me to work and excel in an array of financial roles at companies including Kimberly-Clark, MWV and Novelis – industry giants. I’ve lived and experienced business on a global scale. My MBA opened the door to new opportunities to support a global capital agenda at Novelis and restructure public debt for the betterment of my community while serving as the CFO of the Coweta County Water and Sewerage Authority.

In March 2014, I joined Cancer Treatment Centers of America at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Newnan, Georgia as the director of finance. In my new role my passion for business joined with my passion for helping people. Like so many, cancer has hit very close to home. Now, my education and experience provided the opportunity to give back in a new way.

Throughout the years I have encountered many complex problems to solve, but I have always been confident in my ability to deliver results in large part due to the insights and knowledge gained at the University of West Georgia. For me, “going West” was one of the best choices I ever made.

Andrew (finance 2004, MBA 2010) is married to Crystal Caldwell (education 2005), and together they have three children: Jackson 6, Eva 4 and Luke 2. The Caldwells currently reside in Sharpsburg, Georgia.
