Stress Less UWG

by Sheryl Marlar

Stress Less UWG The week of finals undoubtedly brings on added stress to most college students. But UWG tries to minimize that stress. Thanks to a Wolf Wellness collaborative event between the Counseling Center, Health Services, University Recreation and Human Resources, students were treated to “Stress Less UWG,” held recently during the spring semester finals week.

A Zen Center was set up in the Campus Center Ballroom where students could enjoy chair massages and yoga. Tips on meditation and relaxation techniques were also offered for future use. Students were encouraged to take group walks along the Greenbelt.

For the young at heart, there were coloring books, finger painting, doodling and board games. On the Campus Center patio, students could play with yo-yos, Jax, bubbles, hula hoops and jump ropes.

Furry friends were also present to interact with the students. Counseling
Center staff members brought their own pets to play with the students. Studies have shown that animal interaction is a stress reliever, so several puppies and dogs were on hand to play.

Of course, no student event is complete without free giveaways. Students received healthy snacks, water bottles and backpacks.

UWG is constantly searching for ways to relieve student stress. These opportunities are just a few of the services offered each semester.
